AURORA GARAGE DOOR EFFICIENCY PROBLEMS BY VILLAEfficiency, weather sealing, and weather stripping
If the garage door efficiency seems to be an issue then call us here at Aurora Garage doors by Villa. We have the solutions. We can evaluate the efficiency of the door and determine if the garage is losing energy and costing you money. First we start with the old seal removal. Liquid nails is a great application we use to help with replacing the weather seal on the garage door. Our little trick is to apply the liquid nails to the seal between the spaces of regular nails. This will give better sealant properties and will make the whole seal more strong against the elements and energy loss. The large flap on the outside of the door will help keep air from entering and exiting underneath when garage is closed. This large outer flap also helps keep the water out. Moisture is the main cause for deterioration of garage doors. Insects also are kept from entering the home with the proper application of garage door weather sealing. Not only are seals a great addition to the bottom but should be considered for the sides and top of the garage using weather stripping. Thin vinyl weather stripping for the outside of the door fits will sit flush and mesh well with stop boards for a clean finish. Then caulking can be applied around the stripping to stop the air leakage from outside through the garage door into home. Another place for attention is the horizontal grooves if there are leaks present. We use compressible foam weather stripping with adhesive to not only keep the airflow down but also the moisture and dust from the outside. |
